Changing Name, Type, Picture, and Password of a User Account on Windows Vista

You can change the name, type, picture, and password for an account easily and quickly.



To change them, please perform these steps:

- Open Control Panel. (Click Start menu, and then click Control Panel).

- On Control Panel window, click User Accounts And Family Safety, and then click User Accounts. Then on the User Accounts window, you'll find there the links to change the name, type, picture and password for your account.






Creating a Password For Your Account

- On the User Accounts window, if you have not created a password, you'll see the Create a password for your account link. Click it to create a password.

- Type your password. Then if you wish, you can enter a hint to help you remember your password. Finish it by clicking Create password button.





Changing The Password of Your Account

- On the User Accounts window, if you have created a password, you'll see the Change your password link. Click it to change your password.

- Type your current password and your new password. Then click Change password button.





Removing The Password of Your Account

- On the User Accounts window, if you have created a password, you'll see the Remove your password link. Click it to remove your password.

- Type your current password and then click Remove password button.





Changing Your Account Name

- On the User Accounts window, click the Change your account name link.

- Type your new account name and then click Change Name button.





Changing The Picture of Your Account

- On the User Accounts window, click the Change your picture link.

- Click a picture from the list that you want to use. Or if you wish to use your own picture, click Browse for more pictures link. After you finish, click Change Picture button.






Changing Your Account Type

- On the User Accounts window, click the Change your account type link.

- Select your new account type and then click Change Account Type button.
