Getting Special Characters from Character Map on Windows Vista

Like its predecessor, Windows Vista comes with a program called Character Map, which can display the character look of each fonts available in your System.

You can use this program to get special characters, in the form of picture, and then use it in your advanced text editor software, like Microsoft Word, Wordpad, etc. You can not use this special character in plain text editor such as notepad.

- To run Character Map, click Start button > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map.

- In Character Map, choose the font that you like. Note: To get fonts with special characters, choose either of Symbol, Webdings, Wingdings, Wingdings 2, or Wingdings 3 for the font.

- Then, click a character that you wish to use from the list, then click Select button, and then click Copy button. Now open your text editor, and then perform Paste action (CTRL+V).
