Customizing the Mouse

Really, you don't want to use computer without mouse, do you? even though it's only an extenal device, but it's very necessary especially if you wish to work more comfortable with your computer. Windows XP provides you the facilities to customize the use of mouse, through the control panel.

To customize the mouse:

- Click the Start button and then click Control Panel.

- In Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware.

- Click Mouse. Then the Mouse Properties dialog box will appear.

- In the Mouse Properties dialog box, there are four tabs that contain various settings for the use of mouse.
  • Buttons tab contains settings for switching primary and secondary mouse buttons, changing the double-click speed, and ClickLock feature.
  • Pointer tab contains settings for changing the mouse appearance.
  • Pointer Options tab contains settings  for the pointer speed and the snap and visibility capabilities.
  • Hardware tab contains settings about mouse-related devices.
Just make any changes that you want to do. For example, if you're left-handed and you want to switch the primary button, you can change it in Buttons tab. Or if you feel that your pointer moves slower, then you can get into the Pointer Options tab and increase the pointer speed there, and so on.

- After you've finished doing changes, click OK button to apply them.
