Learn Vista - Using Windows Firewall To Block All Incoming Connections

When you are connecting to a public network such as in a hotel, airport, etc, that you think it's not really secure for your computer, you can set your computer for optimum protection especially from incoming connections. In this matter, you can use Windows Firewall to block all incoming connections.

To Block All Incoming Connections:

- Open Control Panel. (Click the Start menu, then click Control Panel).

- In Control Panel, click Allow a program through Windows Firewall in Security section.

- In Windows Firewall Settings window, click General tab.

- Click On (recommended), and then select the Block all incoming connections check box.

- The last, click OK button.

Note:
With this setting, you are not notified when Windows Firewall blocks programs including programs on the Exceptions list. However, you can still view most webpages, send and receive e‑mail, and send and receive instant messages.
