Learn Vista - Customizing The Mouse Pointer

Mouse is one of the devices which are most important while using computer. We can interact with computer using the mediator of mouse. But in some cases, user get bothered or bored while working in front of computer just because of the mouse pointer related problem such as the pointer moves too fast or too slow, and so on. So in this page, we will learn to adjust elements of mouse pointer.

Customize the mouse pointer:

1. Right-click on empty area on desktop background, then click 
Personalize.




2. On Personalization window, click Mouse Pointers text.






Then, the Mouse Properties window appears. On that window, there are three important tabs which are generally used to adjust every mouse setting, namely Buttons, Pointers, and Pointer Options.

Buttons Tab

In this tab, you can set primary and secondary mouse buttons, double-click speed, and ClickLock feature (dragging or selecting items without holding primary button). Lets have a look this picture:






Explanations:
Point 1 : Marking the check box will make the right button become the primary button.
Point 2 : By moving the slider to the right side, so you'll have to double-click faster to get double-click action result.
Point 3 : Marking the check box will activate ClickLock feature, a feature which enable you drag or highlight items without must hold down primary button.
Point 4 : Click it to set settings of ClickLock feature.


Pointers Tab

In this tab, you can change the picture of mouse pointer. Please have a look this picture:







Explanation:
Point 1 : The list of sort of mouse pointer scheme. Every scheme has its own pointer picture. You may try to change it and see the sample preview under Customize text.
Point 2 : List of pointer picture for every selected scheme. Those pointer pictures can be changed by clicking one of them, for example Normal Select, then select Browse button and choose the pointer picture you wish. Or click Use Default button to use standard/default pointer picture.
Point 3: Mark the check box so that the mouse pointer shows its shadow.


Pointer Options Tab

In this tab, we can adjust the speed of mouse pointer motion, show animation of pointer motion, and so on. For more information, take attention to this picture:







Explanation:
Point 1 : Move the slider to adjust the speed of pointer motion. Moving the slider to the right side, so the pointer will go faster. The other way, moving the slider to the left side, so the pointer go slower.
Point 2 : Marking that check box, will increase accuracy of pointer when be moved in short distance.
Point 3 : By marking the check box, then Windows will locate the pointer to the default button automatically once a dialog window shows.
Point 4 : By marking the check box, so the pointer will show animation while in motion.
Point 5 : Move the slider to adjust the length of pointer motion animation.
Point 6 : Mark the check box so that the pointer hides while you are typing.
Point 7 : By marking the check box, it will show the location sign of the pointer while pressing Ctrl button on keyboard.

Accomplish it by clicking OK button. Or if you want to annul the change, just click Cancel button.
