Learn Vista - Allowing Programs and Ports Through Windows Firewall

Windows Firewall is designed to block all outside sources from connecting to your computer, except for those you determine in Firewall exceptions.

To allow programs and ports through Windows Firewall:

- Open Control Panel. (Click the Start menu, then click Control Panel).

- In Control Panel, click Allow a program through Windows Firewall in Security section.

- In Windows Firewall Settings window, select the check box next to the program you want to allow.



- If you want to add a program into Firewall exceptions list, click Add program button and choose a program you want to add, then click OK button. If you want to add a port, click Add port button and then decide the port number and protocol, then click OK button.



- Next, in Windows Firewall Settings window, click OK button.
