Learn Vista - Enabling or Disabling User Account Control (UAC)

User Access Control (UAC) functions to stop the automatic installation of unauthorized applications, and prevents inadvertent changes to system settings. It can also help preventing malicious programs (malwares), from damaging a system, as well as helping organizations to deploy a better-managed desktop.

To enable or disable UAC:

- Click Start menu, then click Control Panel.

-
In Control Panel, click User Accounts and Family Safety, and then click User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off.

- If the User Account Control message appears, click Continue.

-
To enable UAC, select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box. Or, if you want to disable UAC, clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box.

- Click OK button.

- Click Restart Now to restart your computer and applying the change.
