Learn Vista - Managing Internet Explorer 7 Add-Ons

Add-on is a small program that provides additional features to a web browser. For instances, add-ons for extra toolbars, animated mouse pointers, stock tickers, pop-up ad blockers, and other interactive web contents. In Internet Explorer, add-ons are also known as ActiveX controls, plug-ins, browser extensions, or Browser Helper Objects. You can get various add-ons from internet available as freeware or shareware.

What Add-ons Are Installed in Your Browser?

To see them, do these steps:

- Run Internet Explorer 7.

- From the toolbar, click Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons.

- On the Manage Add-ons window, choose the Show options.




- To close the window, click OK button.


To Disable, Enable, or Delete an Add-On:

If an add-on makes your browser doesn't work properly, you'd better disable it. If you want to delete (uninstall) an add-on, it's recommended that you uninstall it using Add or Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel.

- Run Internet Explorer 7.

- From the toolbar, click Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons.

- On the Manage Add-ons window, choose the Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer option from the Show list.

- On the list of add-ons, click an add-on that you want to disable/enable, and then click Disable or Enable option. Repeat this step for other add-ons you want to disable/enable.

- Click OK button.
