Learn Vista - Turning On Parental Control

As its name says, Parental Control is very useful for parents to monitor their children's computer activity as well as controlling how they use computer.

Some tips for you before using parental controls:

First, You must log on using administrator account. Make sure your administrator account has a password, so that you can prevent others to log on to your administrator account and turn off the Parental Control.

Second, you must create a standard account for your children or others that you want to monitor and control their computer activity via Parental Control.

Third, it is recommended that you turn off the Guest Account, because Parental controls can not be applied to it. This to prevents your child from using Guest account avoiding Parental Controls.

To Turn On Parental Control:

- Open Control Panel. (Click Start menu, then click Control Panel).

- In Control Panel, click Set up parental controls for any user in User Accounts and Family Safety section.

- Choose/click the account for which you want to apply the Parental Controls.

- On Parental Controls window, click On, enforce current settings to turn on Parental Control. If you want to turn it off, click Off.



- Now, it's time for you to adjust items that you want to control, among others:  web restrictions, time limits, games, and allowing or blocking specific programs. To adjust these items, please read other articles available in this blog.

- After you've finished adjusting all settings, click OK button.
