Learn Vista - Using Parental Controls to Restrict Accessed Websites

By using Parental Controls, you can restrict websites and web contents that your child can visit.

To restrict specific websites and web contents:

- Open Parental Controls. (Click Start menu, then click Control Panel, then click Set up parental controls for any user, and then click your child's account.



- Under Parental Controls, click On, enforce current settings to turn on Parental Controls.

- Click Windows Vista Web Filter.

- On the Web Restriction window, click Block some websites or content.




- To restrict access to specific websites, click Edit the Allow and block list. On the Allow Block Webpages window,  type a website address and then click Allow button or Block button to allow or to block it. After you finish entering allowed and/or blocked websites, click OK button.




- To restrict access to specific web contents, from the Web Restriction window, click the content level you want, whether High, Medium, None, or Custom. If you click Custom, you can choose specific categories that you want to block.



- When you've finished, click OK button. Then click OK button again.
