Search box is one of new features of Internet Explorer 7. It will make you quicker and easier to search information on internet without having to open the search-engine website first.

Search box is located on top and right of IE window.




Using The Search Box

To use the Search box, type the keyword you want to search from internet within the search box, and then press ENTER (or press ALT+ENTER to display the search results in a new tab). A while after that, you'll get the search result.

Adding Other Search Engine Providers

By default, IE7 use Microsoft Live Search as the search engine provider to find information. However, you can use other providers such as Google, Yahoo, and so on. Before you can use other search provider, you must add it first.

To add a search provider:

1. Click the down-arrow next to the Search Box, and then click Find More Providers.




2. Internet Explorer then will access www.micorosoft.com and tell you the available search-engine providers that you can install on your browser. After the page completes, click a search engine provider which you want to install. On the sample below, i choose Google search engine.



3. A while after you click your search choice, the Add Search Provider window appears. On that window, mark the Make this my default search provider checkbox to set it as default search. Then click Add Provider button.



4. Then, your search-engine is added on the Search Box.




To Change The Default Search Provider:

1. On Internet Explorer 7, click the down-arrow next to the Search Box, and then click Change Search Defaults.

2. On the Change Search Defaults window, click a provider that you will set as default. Then click Set Default button. Next, click OK button. Now, your default search engine changes.
