Learn Vista - Viewing Web Pages On Internet Explorer 7

In order to open and view a web page, you must use an internet browser. There are many browsers you can use to view web pages. Internet Explorer 7 is one of them. In this tutorial, we will learn how to open and view web pages on IE 7. This is a very basic tutorial, and aimed for beginner users.

To view web pages on IE 7:

- First, you have to connect your computer to the internet. There are three options to make an internet connection. First, Dial-up, choose this if you have a modem but it is not a DSL or cable modem, or if you want to use Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) to connect your computer to the Internet. Second, Broadband, choose this if your computer is connected directly to a broadband modem (also called a Digital Subscriber Line [DSL] or cable modem), and you have a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) Internet account. With this type of account, you need to provide a user name and password to connect. And third, Wireless, choose this if you have a wireless router or network, or if you're connecting to a hotspot.

- Start Internet Explorer 7 if it isn't already running.

- On Internet Explorer window, type the url within the address bar, of a website that you want to access. Generally, you don't have to type the 'http:' text. Just type text begins from 'www.' and so on. For example, 'understandcomputer.blogspot.com'. Then press ENTER. Your browser will automatically fix it for you. Now your browser is loading the web page.

- If you forget the url which you wish to access, or you only want to find some information about something, you can open a popular search-engine website that can assist you find what you search. For example, www.google.com, www.yahoo.com, or others.

Some tips on using Internet Explorer:

- To open multiple web pages in one browser, click the new tab button, or press CTRL+T. Then type the url and press ENTER. You can switch between pages you open, by clicking the tabs.

- To go back to previous or next page you have accessed, click the Back or Next button.

- If you click a link in a web page and you want to open it on a new tab, not in the same tab, press CTRL while clicking the link.
