Vista Tips - Restarting Windows Explorer


If Windows Explorer gets errors or stops responding, you can try to restart it so that it can run normally again.



To restart Windows Explorer:

- Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC in order to open Task Manager.

- In Task Manager, click Processes tab. Look for and then right-click explorer.exe from then list of processes. Then click End Process. In the confirmation dialog box, click End process button. Now, Windows Explorer is closed. It's indicated by the missing Taskbar.



- Yet in Task Manager, on the File menu, click New Task (Run...).

- In the Create New Task dialog box, type explorer next to Open, and then click OK button. Then Windows Explorer will start again.
