Setting a Keyboard Shortcut For a Program

If you have one or some programs that you run many times a day. It will be more efficient if you make a keyboard shortcut for the program, so you can run it just by pressing the keyboard combination instead of running it from the Start menu.



To set a keyboard shortcut for a program:

In this tutorial, we will make a keyboard shortcut for a popular program, Calculator. You can apply these steps to other programs.

- Click Start button > All Programs > Accessories.

- Right-click the Calculator shortcut, and then choose Properties.

- In the Properties dialog box, click Shortcut tab.

- Click in the Shortcut key box.


- Now, press combination of keyboard keys which you want to set as keyboard shortcut for opening the program. For examples:

Ctrl + Shift + [any letter/number], such as Ctrl + Shift + A.

Ctrl + Alt + [any letter/number], such as Ctrl + Alt + 7.

Shift + Alt + [any letter/number], such as Shift + Alt + 1.

If you want to remove the keyboard shortcut, press SPACE key.

- Click OK button.

Now, test it by pressing the keyboard combination that you've made. The program should run immediately.
